SA has brought many new experiences. Among those have been changes in my daily routines and habits. I have kept an ongoing list in my journal and wanted to share to give a better sense of what some of these changes have been. Here you go...
1. Making fire to boil bath water
2. Bucket Baths
3. Washing & rinsing cloths by hand
4. An all-in-one bucket to wash dishes, body, and clothes (not to mention a few other functional things I won’t mention here)
5. Eating cow intestines
6. Eating cow brain
7. Eating worms
8. Using my feet as my only mode of transportation (other than taxis for trips to town to get food)
9. Using books and writing as my main form of entertainment
10. Redefining how to conserve water (one cup of H20 goes along way for this PCV)
11. Fetching water from the tap
12. Pit latrine (enough said)
13. Conserving toilet paper
14. Coffee, tea, coffee, tea, and more coffee….ahh is this heaven
15. Winning the battle against the cockroaches!
16. Cooking over fire
17. Sketching
18. Playing harmonica
19. Speaking IsiNdebele
…and the list continues everyday…
Although the list may be deceiving, I am truly loving every minute my new South African lifestyle and all the adventures it has brought thus far!

Now John wore garments of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. MT 3
HHHMMMM....worms?...lucusts?...
You're doing amazing work Adam! Thanks for posting for us to share a small part of your life. It makes me appreciate the shower and loads of laundry we get every day that we take for granted. We think of you often and I recall Joshua 1 when I pray for you. He was bold to pick up God's people and be blessed and take possession of the promised land. I pray for you to be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. WITH LOVE FROM TEXAS!
Dude, cease work on eating cow brains. Do not eat brains or spinal cords ground up in food. Have you not heard of creutfeldt jacobs disease and prions. Nice blog though. Great to see your pix. Keep up the great work. I think of you often and chuckled as I moved the yahtzee box still in plactic to my new home. Later Buddy.
